Now. I've always considered myself a long, drapey gown kinda girl, but as my own wedding approaches, I've been considering a shorter frock. Not because my dream dress is short -- it's not -- but because it's so much more affordable. I've ordered a dress from JCrew already and it's stunning, but I've started perusing shorter dresses with the aim of maybe saving $400 dollars or so -- which makes a BIG difference when you're paying for your own dress (and school, and bills, and so on). I think it's important to think about saving for the honeymoon, and for afterwards -- I don't want us to be so broke that we can't go on many dates!
I think there are a lot of pretty options out there! What do you think?

Oh, sweety. Such a hard decision for you. Let's look it this way. The short dress is less afordable, right! AND (!!!) you can wear it after the wedding! The white color, lace, and ruche are in trend now! ;) Or, you can buy a short dress and sew a long underskirt that corresponds to the pattern of the dress. You'll have a long princess gown, you'll save some money buying a new dress, you'll have a short cute dress to wear in the honey moon! ;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I hope that didn't sound absurd! haha

Wow, these are all such beautiful dresses. I think it is an absolutely lovely idea to wear a short dress to your wedding. I think any of these will be perfect. You (and your blog) are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThese dresses are super cute! It's nice to save money where you can for a wedding and invest in other things, such as your honeymoon or an awesome photographer. Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog. I'm following back. :)

i am dreaming of a lovely tea length vintage dress for my wedding...if my boyfriend ever proposes...
ReplyDeletei like a shorter dress, it is way less cookie cutter that a long white gown.

i think i would have to see the long dress (or one similar to it) before i gave you my opinion. long dresses are so elegant, classy and more bride-like. shorter dresses are still very beautiful as well, but give a more casual, fun look. so i guess it depends on the look you really want. and i understand the money aspect. you're smart to look at the big picture!
ReplyDeleteI think they're all stunning, especially the first one :) & when are you planning on getting married? Best of luck with it all :D

ReplyDeleteI love shorter wedding dress. All of these picks are beautiful and would make the perfect dress for the big day. And yes- they are way cheaper which totally makes a difference. The price of a wedding gown is so expensive! eek! xoxo

You are all so sweet. I really appreciate all your responses -- they absolutely made my day and gave me so much to consider! A genuine thank you to you all : ]
ReplyDeleteI've always loved longer lengths, but I think the shorter dresses are beginning to grow on me! There are so many different styles available, some very vintage inspired, others ultra modern or edgy. One of my personal favorites in the short styles are tea length, retro looking ones, like this: http://www-static.weddingbee.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/03/4241448.jpg
ReplyDeleteBut maybe that's just me, and the fact that it's on Audrey Hepburn!
Anyway, I think you would look fabulous in anything!
what gorgeous dresses. there is nothing more fun than picking out your own wedding dress. i'm sure yours is stunning!
ReplyDeleteAs long as YOU feel beautiful in your dress, whatever length it may be--that's what matters the most :)
