autumn is delicious, no?
today was so cold and rainy in colorado, i had a fleeting feeling of return to my residence in washington; i left the apartment at 6:30 a.m., as per ritual demands, and set off to starbucks before work. by the time i arrived in the empty lobby, the skin on my knees had welted into itchy red plateaus. but the universe was forgiven when moments later the thermos I'd been eyeing was given to me for free by the ginger-headed barista, because it was the only one left, he said, and it had a slight cosmetic blemish on the base. (i'll take it.)
really, though, it takes a lot to bring me down in the fall. maybe it's because autumn always feels like a welcomed homecoming -- returning to school, refreshing your wardrobe...and as far as i can remember every time i've fallen in love it's been in the autumn. if that's not enough, there are pumpkin patches and corn mazes for the mister and i to visit, pumpkin treats to bake (i'm binging on homemade pumpkin chocolate chip cookies as I type this), fall fashion is tops, there are seasonal ales all about, and i can wear ear-warmers without looking dweeby -- but maybe that last point is just wishful thinking.
