racing into winter

last night, we made a guinness cake (via a design sponge recipe). it tasted real good.

the cream cheese frosting was om nom too. and this happy girl finally got to use her cake platter! do you like the ballerina on the wall? we found her for just a dollar. and on that note, we've had lots of thrifted finds lately...

sure, our names aren't elizabeth & fritz. but we had a really hard time setting them down with the adorable floral framing and germanic font. for 50 cents each, we just decided they would be our bavarian alter-egos.

and then some not-so-thrifty finds too: a new pup! archibald the frenchie. naturally, bernie the beagle is still very loved, pictured on the left.

not even half way through fall, it'd already snowed in denver. it's been awfully brisk on early morning walks to work, but extra hot pumpkin spice lattes assuage shaky fingers. still, thanksgiving can't come soon enough -- it's hard not to listen to the she & him christmas album on repeat!
