10 ways to beat the winter blues:
bridget's personally anointed tips for staying cheery through the new year, ad infinitum -- for those days that aren't quite merry & bright enough on their own.

1. wake up earlier than you need to -- and make it leisurely. get a load of laundry done before work. eat breakfast. read.
2. wear bright lipstick. i prefer matte ones -- mac's snob or nars' roman holiday.
3. switch your latte out for an americano; you'll get neither a sugar crash nor extra winter lbs.
4. one handwritten letter a day keeps the grumbles away.
5. constantly express gratitude to others. most of being optimistic is a conscious effort.
6. h2o. repeat.
7. wear things that sparkle a bit. be luminous.
8.nap. since i work 40 hours a week at my day job, and clock another 25-30 hours a week shooting & editing, i don't always get my precious 8 hours. mid-day naps are my saving grace!
9. exercise.
10. layer accessories. sometimes i find, on my smaller frame, that if i layer too many sweaters and coats i start to feel frumpy. the best trick i've found yet is to layer accessories (scarves, a belt and a pin, etc.) over a staple sweater or dress, pairing it with a bold statement coat instead.

  6. I love all of these tips! I need to find a good, matte, semi-casual lip color for Winter. Because little things like that make you feel/look better even when you're exhausted, stressed, or both.

Dead Week has officially started here and you should see the frumpy style that has come with it...I just want to insist to all the people around me in the library that my jean/thick socks/sweater ensemble is just as comfortable as their sweats. So far I've managed to keep my cool, but it is only Monday. I know you'd be with me!

You look gorgeous as always, and congrats on your internship! Exciting things are happening for you, which I know you've worked very hard for. xoxo.

By the way, A Moveable Feast is one of the loveliest books I've ever read...it's like Hemingway decided to write the equivalent of a red velvet cake with buttercream frosting. :)
