up in the woods

the other day, the magazine gave us president's day off last minute! so mister & i bundled up & fled for the mountains. he boarded with a pal & i sat back, enjoyed the flurries, & finished the tiger's wife.

we felt so lucky to get an extra day off together! the 6 a.m. drive up was my favorite part. bon iver & mountains & a book & my person? i'll take it any day. in fact, i told him: i think i should be supremely happy, just like this: on top of a mountain, with music, a camera, and a person to share dinner with each night.

There's just something about the mountains. I live like 10 minutes from the canyon and I don't go up nearly enough as I should.

I have never been skiing, actually! I would love to go (especially after looking at these crisp, wintry, wonderful, peaceful photos), but I am afraid I will die. Or, at the very least, walk out severely bruised. :)
