i've somehow convinced myself, over time, that as long as things stay bright & light, it's fine to accrue a lot of, well, stuff. i've especially got a weakness for thrifting & hoarding: animal figurines. pretty books. children's books. jars. birdcages. gilt bone china dishware. mugs. mismatched colored glassware. anything that fits me in white. anything floral. trunks. globes. anything deer-related. anything woodland creature-related. anatomical posters. stripes. anything that feels parisian. children's belts. mid-calf skirts.
(here's how it goes: you get into that debilitating frame of mind that, "hey, this looks like it could be in an anthropologie shoot..." & you're done in & done for.)
but i'm kinda ok with it. i really do use the little things i've accumulated...engagement shoot props, cake toppers, place settings, jewelry holders, yada yada. someday, we'll have a nice minimalist bedroom with a big, low white bed, and our initials above it. maybe fresh flowers & a couple books on the hardwood floor. and all our little things will have a proper place. til the day we're not squeezed in a little downtown apartment, things'll go where we can fit 'em!
lovely images! i love collecting things too, although my boyfriend does not share the same love of knick knacks!

I love your sense of collecting! It all looks so pretty. I love the little cluster of woodland creatures. I love the minimalist look you dream of, but a little pretty eclectic clutter suits me just fine, too. :)
ReplyDeleteLove all that lace. You put things together so beautifully.

But it's all those little things that make a place a home.
ReplyDeleteI would love to collect things, my problem is that I run of places to stuff. So sad...love all of the pictures though.
ReplyDeletei'm exactly the same. I have so many books, and bits and pieces that I've picked up over the years that I dread the day I move into my own place and have to find homes for everything!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous photos.

oh my. I love all of these pictures. I know what you mean about hoarding books. I totally do it too.
ReplyDeleteOh, those little bunny figurines. I'm dying. Very sweet blog you have :)
ReplyDeleteI'm living in a one bedroom apartment with my husband, and I'm finding it hard to store all my collections. (He lovingly refers to me as a hoarder.) I feel as long as you love and use things, though, you're totally justified in buying them. :)
