make it: gold mason jars

painted mason jars are all over the blogosphere & i decided it was finally time to make my own. it barely counts as a diy because it's so easy...let's say it's more a push to get you to crafting this week ; )
you'll need: at least one mason jar (or a whole corral of 'em), spray paint, cardboard or newspaper.
here's how: take your jar to somewhere well-ventilated, and lay it in a cardboard box/on a piece of newspaper. make sure to shake the can for 2 minutes before spraying. paint just the outside of the jar, and when you spray, hold the can about 10 inches away and gently wave it over the surface you're spraying in little wisps back and forth. tip: it's best to put on several light layers of paint rather than saturating it in one heavy spray -- this'll keep it from dripping &  becoming cakey.
and voila! you can use your painted mason jar to store all sorts of things: fresh flowers, change, silverware for an outdoor fete...you name it. display it proudly, use it often.

enjoy! xo, b.
