date idea: paris in your city

maybe it's the newly crisp air in denver -- the same that stocks our closets with striped sweaters and makes for scarves trailing behind pedestrians' heads on downtown corners-- but we've been yearning to learn french & visit paris like never before.

we decided a paris-in-denver date is the closest we'll get for awhile. so we grabbed striped sweaters (and skinny pants, ballet flats, and a trench for me) and headed downtown. we bought little cups of coffee (please don't let our date be marred by the fact we got starbucks -- it's the best in our vicinity), and learned some euro phrases while waiting in line. we leafed through novels in the bookstore & spent some time admiring good looking bicycles.
now YOU do the same!

  2. We went to LoDo this past weekend. LOVED it. It was really cold though, and there were a ton of homeless around. Is that common? I found it interesting since the weather changes there! I understand our downtown SD (and when we were in Phoenix) but in the cold snow of Denver?!

  4. aw you two are so cute! I'm planning a trip to Paris next month with some of my besties. J'adore Paris! It's an amazing city and every time I visit I fall even more in love with it! Plus je veux pratiquer mon francais! I know you two will have a fabulous time there when you do get around to visiting. Make sure that the Shakespeare and Co bookshop is on your list of places to visit and of course the Les Puces!

  5. LOVE this! Such a sweet little date :) And, hey, I drank Starbucks a lot when I lived in Paris, so no judgment there, sister.

  7. @gentri: yes! please!

    @from head 2 toe: i'd say that's a fair assessment. we were actually surprised by that too, for the same reason. : / it's too bad -- though a constant reminder of all we have to be grateful for. and yes, SO cold this last week!

    @hannah: have the BEST time!

    @katie michelle: phew! made me feel a little better. : )

    MY husband promised to take me to paris with a destination necklace from Urban a long time ago while we were dating. It was so sweet. Great idea to fake being in Paris!

  16. It's not quite LoDo (and it's definitely NOT quite Paris haha) but have you ever gone to Leela European Café? It's on 15th and Champa I believe. Kind of an interesting place, and better than Starbucks!

  20. @ali: definitely try it! i always think of fun, easy date ideas & then jot them down…on post-its that inevitably end up in drawers and books and under the bed…you know how it goes. so i need to get better about organizing that list in one place. who knows, maybe it'll have to be on this blog? : )

    @larasvintage: i'm sure it'll be just as amazing!
