christmas wishes: a ready-made fort

freshman year of college, my roommate & i turned our dorm room into a giant fort for a third of the school year. it was a habit from childhood: my mother eventually discovered the real reason i asked for a bunk bed was to snatch all the freshly laundered sheets and drape them over the top bunk to make a fort. and i'd leave it that way. for months.

i still love building a good blanket fort -- especially in the winter. you can watch movies, read, eat fondue, finger paint, journal, anything! but building from scratch can get tedious. especially when you're weak & have stunted t-rex arms (guilty). so this year, on my christmas list -- i'm not kidding, this is actually on my list -- is a ready-made fort. something quick & easy to store that still has that magical quality about it.

have any of you bought one or made your own?

  6. Haha this is amazing!! probably the best way to go camping in the winter :) I haven't seen any ready-made forts, but A Beautiful Mess and Smile and Wave has featured some homemade kinds that look pretty simple.

  7. The second and third are SO amazing. I want one, too! I've always tried to make a blanket fort but i never succeeded. Once I kept a giant box and tried to live inside. It's not a fort but it's close to a personal sanctuary, my little world.

  16. I have never seen such fancy forts - for me these hidey holes were just always a sheet over some furniture, which I think is the most exciting part - creating your own place to escape just from whatever is around. However I have fallen in love with number three, that lace beauty! *soph
