cloud reading

Not too long before Grammy Ruth died, she gave me a photograph of a cloudy sky. She pointed to the picture and showed me a little tuft floating in the sea of clouds shaped uncannily like an angel. A small body with wings, that seemed to stand alone in a patch of blue, caught between two larger clouds.

And this was a hobby of hers: she'd point her camera up at the sky and, without looking, take a photograph. When the film was developed, she'd examine the pictures & read the clouds. so much of who i am is because of my Grammy Ruth. i'll be reading clouds, for the both of us, for the rest of my life.

  2. This is such a sweet post, Bridget! I love the idea of taking a picture without looking and then examining it once it has been developed.
