our christmas tree!

so last night we picked up our christmas tree…
ourchristmastree
AT IKEA!!!

this year, we made the hard decision to skip on a real tree since we're in a small space & won't be here on christmas. seriously, guys, i cried a little -- robbie can confirm that. i love christmas trees so much. once we made that decision, we knew we wouldn't just want a fake tree…but some sort of alternative tree. you feel me? so when we learned ikea was selling this amazing fabric, we were like…"well, yes. please." and we went to ikea and felt really weird but had fun and we were happy. and archibald is kind of disappointed because he really enjoyed eating last year's tree.

p.s. we'll share photos of us decking her out later. ; )

  1. Such a cute idea! I really love it and kinda want to steal it, but...I gotta get a real one. Can't wait to see how you decorate your tree.

  4. This is such an amazing idea! Leave it to Ikea to solve all my apartment problems. We too live in a small space, and worse, we'll be out of town for an extended time during the holidays. Meaning, a tree is (so sadly) impractical on several levels. This is the PERFECT solution! Love!

  10. this is great! i love that you just hop over to ikea - it's like a long journey over here to get to one. anyhoo, just fyi, bath & bodyworks has a great pine scented candle that got me through one very long, non-christmas tree having winter in canada. well, that, and this winnie the pooh themed christmas throw blanket that remains one of my best purchases of my adult life.

  14. This has to be the cutest thing ever! And you made me feel better for not being the only one who will have to do without a tree this year. Tears indeed! Lovely to meet you.

  15. Fun. Great compromise. Jachen almost talked me out of setting up our tree since we wont be here for Christmas, but it's our last Christmas in Switzerland so cantNOT do it.

    Love that Ikea.

  27. I was EXACTLY the same when they said we couldn't get a real tree for the studio!! I always get one at home so don't mind so much but I can't stand the idea of a fake tree - this is such a cute alternative! I saw some great images on a design blog last week and I love this fabric... just checked the ikea site though and there's none available in our local store :( :( :( fingers crossed it comes in stock soon!
