last weekend, i met up with a sweet little family of four to take some holiday photos. it was so bitter (maybe 20 degrees) out, the kiddos lasted only a couple minutes…literally, two minutes. but we strategized and played…and begged them to smile "just one more minute!" and got some beautiful photographs. the mother had confided to me days before, "gosh, i wish there was going to be snow…" and there was. and it lasted only one day. i'd like to think this was a special christmas surprise for her. it was the coldest day i've ever shot on. and it was so beautiful out, i had to get some outtakes. there were hundreds of geese out, snow sprinkled the ground, and the mustard blanket of wonders came out to join the fun.
Really lovely shots. :) We have loads of wild ducks here, that stay over winter! (brrr, won't they freeze?!) I bet the photos turned out beautiful, looking forward to seeing those. We had 0 degrees for the first time in ages, before today it's been -15 °C or more. But that's nothing really, it can get up to -30. :(
Thanks for visiting the other day, it's always so lovely to get comments from my favourite bloggers ♥
You are seriously a gifted photographer, you always frame the prettiest of pictures. Poor kids though haha, I'd be pretty cranky if I had to picnic when it was 20 degrees out too!
Oh the wonderful blanket got to travel then ! So it's a bit like a kid's comfort blanket after all ? I hope you'll show us some pictures of the shoot !
that's the sweetest surprise ever :) i'm sure she was very happy, even if her kiddies didn't last that long! you got some great photos--i love the one of the geese!
Oooh, just stumbled upon your blog and so happy I did. It's so lovely and your photography tells such a beautiful story!! Great to hear the shoot went well even though it was so cold... the day sounds magical nevertheless! xo
Ah, snow!! How beautiful! I most likely would have been right there with the kiddos, only lasting a couple minutes!
