a walk down broadway with kelsey

we all know this: favorite things are even better when done with your favorite people. i love strolling up & down broadway -- a street brimming with old brick homages to denver's industrial past, vintage shops, and corner pizzerias and coffeehouses. whenever i have to go down broadway for various meetings or errands, i always try to squeeze in some extra minutes for wandering.

kelsey & i never have to apologize to each other for wanting to spend a free afternoon exploring & taking photographs. we share that. actually, her whole family shares that quality -- one of countless reasons i love that clan. it's amazing what you find in quiet city corners & alleys that you might have missed  if you were so focused on a goal. i noticed ted (kelsey's dad) reading the hobbit over the weekend -- an old paperback copy. he told me he'd read it probably 15 or 20 times in his life. that love of getting lost in something time & time again is so romantic to me. focusing on goals is good, but sometimes we get so wrapped up in getting somewhere, or accomplishing something -- finishing this book or project -- that we forget to slow down & appreciate the life we're given. we are so blessed to be cognizant, curious creatures.

  8. @jorie: it's a wonderful place, huh? some of my broadway favorites are starlet, happy coffee, boss vintage is full of gems…oh, and the library. i also love buffalo, & the goodwill is usually crowded & picked over, but if you go early in the morning, you can have the book section to yourself, and usually find some great ones!

@danielle m: love that movie so much.

  11. Beautiful pictures. I especially love the one of the purple house. I want to live in a colorful house like that one day.

And I couldn't agree more. We so often try rushing through life to reach our goals that we forget to actually live. I needed that little bit of advice today, so thanks for sharing.
