fireworks on the fourth // our ears are still ringing

this year, we spent the fourth of july in park city, utah with robbie's family. after the kiddos had gone to bed, robbie, his parents, & i snuck up the mountain and staked out a spot really close to the fireworks show so we could snatch up some long-exposure snaps.

but as you may have already surmised if you've read this blog for some time…my tummy can be a little squeamish. so after setting up the camera on its tripod…i found myself covering my too-sensitive ears while robbie assumed active photographer duty. he took a million photos & i love every single one -- and also the excited look on his face when we scrolled through them after the show. but…i figured i'd just share the favorites…lest i leave you scrolling through frames for days. but if you want more fireworks snaps you can also see last year's here -- much less technically savvy, but still a treat.

i wish there could be fireworks shows at least a couple times a week. or thunderstorms. i'd take thunderstorms, too.

*footnote: for those who asked, these were shot on a nikon d700 with 50 mm lens. you have to manually adjust for long exposures (and adjust your ISO & aperture accordingly) -- which will be different on every camera. you must use a tripod or steady surface for long exposures, too. hope that helps!

  8. After scrolling thorough about 50 fireworks photos on my Instagram feed, I thought I'd be sick of 'em. But you, my dear are truly talented! These photos are ridiculously good, and I could probably scroll through about 100 more :)
