tank & necklace: ℅ style lately // boots: shoemint // skirt & jacket: thrifted
because i am just decidedly a non-pants person…this is my equivalent t-shirt & jeans outfit. if i'll be home editing & cleaning…well, i still like to be in something that, should i look down at myself, makes me want to snap a few photos or jot down a good line for a story here & there. eclecticism breeds that back porch, creative vibe for me -- something that makes it easy to flow from one task to another. something as equally fit for lounging as for walking down the street with your head still held high.
and so, floral button-up prairie skirts from the 90s deposited at local thrift stores en masse for $3 a pop are my jeans. pair that skirt with an eclectic tank (this one from style lately is my new go-to) -- and let me just say i can't WAIT to wear this one under some overalls with a long fishtail braid when warm weather finally hits. throw on some fringe, a long necklace (also from style lately), and an analog accessory…and you're in business. the passing time creatively business, that is. and oh is that my favorite business or what.
i don't love pants either, though they're hard to avoid when the weather is freezing!
ReplyDeleteI'm also not a fan of pants, nice photos!
ReplyDeleteI have never understood the idea of pants. Why wear pants when you wear a skirt or a dress or some beautiful stockings.
ReplyDeleteEveryday for me is 'no-pant' day
amen that, sister!
DeleteI love these pics! Is it made wit some sort of action in Photoshop? Which one? I'm searching this effect for the longest time:( Can u help?
ReplyDeletehi, neja! thank you! for these photos i used a combination of VSCO presets & my own presets in lightroom. i highly recommend VSCO -- they've made post-production a million times faster (and more consistent) for me. it'd be hard to isolate the specific effect you're looking for since they have several actions layered…but i assume you're probably talking about the fading & that soft, beigey overtone? if that's the case, VSCO, like i said is great for that, and also totally rad actions for photoshop -- which has a "get faded" preset similar to VSCO's. in the mean time, you can always play around with highlight + shadow + contrast levels to sort of "hack" your own fading effect. : )
Deletehope that helps, neja!
Wow, I'm so surprised you actully helped me, because I feel like a lot of bloggers don't wanna help when it comes to these types of questions. Thank you so much!
DeleteEvery time I see your photos, I smile. You always have the prettiest light-colored lipsticks! Which shades do you wear?
ReplyDeletethanks, sarah! this particular shade is myth by mac. it's a great nude shade for us olive-skinned folks. if your skin is a little more fair, they have another good option at the counter. though not nude, some light pink options i love are saint germain + snob, also both by mac. nars is another favorite brand. : ) hope that helps!

ReplyDeleteVery cute! I am totally a skirts/dress kind of girl and one of my New Year's Resolutions is to wear pants as infrequently as possible. Great tip on the prairie skirts by the way.
ReplyDeletethat's a resolution i can totally get behind! long skirts are just about the easiest & least expensive things to thrift in my experience -- and layered with some tights & booties for winter…you'll almost never need pants. : )
Deleteyou got a lovely skirt.
ReplyDeleteI'm non pants in the summer, but when it is -13 degrees, I tend to cave in haha. Love this outfit though. It is darling. That necklace is adorable!
