snapshots from a saturday + lengthy exposition

i've always loved miss james' picture-an-hour posts. i've tried to conquer the form once or twice...but usually get caught up on those rather un-photographable hours & the whole thing falls to shambles. but i've always liked the summing up of one's day by capturing the still, small moments -- stringing them together as it were. and, to be fair, there've been many posts like that on this blog. i'm quite sure that's the bulk of it, really. but they've never been tied to that hour-by-hour narrative. and i think there's something nice about that fill-in-the-blank quality.

oh, and by the way, in case my lengthy exposition lead you to think otherwise…this is not, in fact, a successful attempt at the photo-an-hour post. it ever evades me! i will get it done someday. but this snaps from a fairly unremarkable, but still lovely saturday morning -- one with testing new rugs with bare toes, and practicing the uke, and fresh sheets, and repotting plants -- will do for now.

  2. The uke! <3 I like photo sets like these just as much as photo-an-hour projects. Sometimes it's nice not to have the rules of the project stressing and pressuring you to take photos. You just take them on a whim instead, based on what you think it most important about the day.

  5. I tried "a photo an hour" thing and was ashamed of my outcome. Mostly embarrassed, actually. Never again...

  6. A photo an hour seems like a good idea in theory, but I don't suspect that it's very practical. That is, unless, you fill your day with random adventures. Then, it isn't like an ordinary day in the end.

I think that I will try this, one day. Lovely photos, as always.

    1. i completely agree. and if i'm going on a real adventure…well, then, i don't want to be sure i am taking a photo hour by hour necessarily. ; ) i think it might be somewhat more fun when there are a kiddos around, too. who wants to see 5 mirror selfies of me to fill in the gaps, huh? haha. : ) i'll keep it on the "maybe someday" list a little longer.

  10. Thanks for the inspiration :)!
I've been so bored with my photography lately because I just feel like it's way too cold outside & way too ugly outside to do anything! lol
