denver eats: city o' city

i feel awkward taking photos of my food, so you'll just have to conjure it up in your imagination. but let me tell you: at city o' city, it's good. possibly, actually the best food we've had in denver...maybe even in general. its all-vegetarian + vegan menu and super hip environment has got us hooked...probably 90% of our eating out over the last 6 months has taken place there. we've devoured about half the menu at this point -- the veggie burgers, the spaghetti + meatless balls -- but our very favorite thing is the buffalo seitan wings with ranch...vegetarian wings that taste like & have the texture of the real thing. and now i've got a hankering!

the restaurant is open till 2 a.m. for all ye night owls...and a coffee bar for us early birds. you can always spot local artists + graphic designers + my fellow photog friends with their macs plugged in at the coffee bar in the afternoon...hopefully sipping on a vanilla latte because dang, are their lattes perfect, every time. (and pretty.)

if ever you find yourself in denver, you must stop in. in fact, if you could only eat at one place...it should be city o' city -- and i'll personally guarantee you a happy belly.

  1. I get what you mean about taking pictures of your food...I was out recently...and I'm guessing this was a food blogger as she was standing on her chair to take the photo!! A bit extreme...

  2. Mmmmm.....I love love love City o' City. And I've been craving the seitan wings for at least week. So, I think this is a sign that I have to go get some. Like tonight. Maybe sooner.
It's funny, I have no problem taking pictures of my food, but I feel really awkward taking pictures of indoor public spaces! I feel really self-conscious for the strangers in the room or passing across my shot. Like I am invading their privacy or something. I guess it's something I just need to work on getting over!

    1. oh, goodness, i totally am too! i would never have done this if the place hadn't been almost empty -- we went super early in the day and the only other folks were at the coffee bar...so i snuck away for like, 30 seconds to take a few snaps. but i hear ya!

  3. Hooray, I love City O City! I have only been a small handful of times, but I still remember this AMAZING pizza with apricots and goat cheese or something like that, mmmm. Also, I usually like to stop by Buffalo Exchange next door as they always have cute stuff, though I don't like how judged I feel based on the coolness level of my outfit there! :/ Beautiful shots, happy Friday!

  4. Some workers have catered to us when I bust out my dslr. They probably think I'm a food critic. >.<

  7. I'm totally loving these photos! This place sounds like a dream and if I ever find myself in that neck of the woods I'll have to try it out. I usually don't mind taking pictures of my food, but always tend to feel awkward taking photos of the places I'm at, eating. I don't want to make anyone feel akward. Haha.
