new slang

tee: c/o Style Lately // tutu: c/o Space 46 Boutique // Ballet flats (in nude): UO

And sometimes, a storm's sudden onslaught thwarts your photoshooting plans. So you stay indoors. You self-timer it. And then, you find yourself a good window from which to watch the rain pour and the lightning strike and all is well. P.s. Lightning strike -- don't you love when the verb & noun are the same form? I love it so much. Nod to my heart's resident poet.

Anyway, talkin' 'bout language. I'm not one who uses much slang in spoken conversation -- my-go to for expressing casual, good feels is groovy, and beyond that I'm pretty hopelessly uncool. It's literally the only thing I'll say in response, and I just end up sounding like a sad, scant-vocabularied parrot. I'm working on it.

But, being a softer-spoken kinda gal, I think it's fun to wear something that does a little talking of its own, like this tee from Style Lately. And does it go with a full-skirted tutu? Well, of course it does.

    1. I noticed this too! But I feel strange for noticing it...am I too invested into your blog? I don't know...

      Regardless, you look immaculate :)

    2. Haha! Yes!

That corner is the most prized real estate in our home -- we really love that sweet spot where the brick and white meet. Tis a slice of heaven! We've wanted the bed there for some time...since the bed's all white, we thought it would sort of glow there, look more open and airy. Ya know? The problem is, we always want everything against that wall because we love it so much!

It's a good problem to have.

And don't worry, I feel like I'm noticing those things all the time. You commit something to memory and then you're like, "hey...wait a minute..." ; )

    1. Haha! Thank you!

I actually used the self-timer on my iPhone for these. I highly recommend it! You can flip the camera around to see what you're actually capturing, which is great. And wonderful for when you're on the go.

And I do use my DSLR's self-timer from time to time...the timer itself is easy to use, but it gets a little tricky without a remote. Without one, the focus point gets a little off. But look into getting a remote for your camera -- there are usually inexpensive options, and it'll make self-portraits (and family photos) a million times easier. : )

    1. Thank you, thank you! I honestly can't even tell you how happy I am with these flats! I bought them on a whim...and I think I need to go back and order them in black. I feel like they go with everything, and they're so, so comfortable. Ah! Maybe a backup pair in nude, too?

...As you can see, I go a little crazy when I find a pair of shoes that I love that also happen to be cheap. Mama stocks up for the winter. ; )

    1. Haha, yes! To be honest, sometimes I feel like wearing something off-the-wall can help me to own my introversion in a way. If I'm going to an outing, I'll try to wear something interesting...not to get attention, but to divert it away from talking about ME, if that makes sense? It gives me a talking point. I know that probably sounds crazy.

And these shoes are really having their moment right now. I think I'm going to order a backup pair and a pair in black. They're so comfortable and so chic! This is how irrational I get when talking about clothes: "Robbie, I know we don't have PLANS to go to Paris...but don't you think these shoes would look so good in Paris? When we go. Eventually. I think I should get a backup pair to save for Paris someday." To which he replies, without a hint of irony, "Yeah! Do it!" --- we really egg each other on. ; )

    1. I'll have to double check when I'm home...but I believe the length was the 25.

And I either got the S or M? (I feel like if I'm remembering correctly, the xs was like a 00, s was a 0, M was a 2, etc.) I'm sorry -- I'll have to double check! I will say, the skirts are sized very, very small, and they don't have any give in the waist, since it's a silk ribbon with no elasticity. So I'd measure your waist, and then order accordingly. If you're in-between sizes, go up one size so you can tuck tops in. : )

(I normally wear a size 0/2 (24-26) just depending on the brand, for reference. And I was right between a S/M...I just can't remember which I got!)

You won't be disappointed though. These tutus are amazing! I can't wait to wear mine all through the holidays! : )

      xo!

    2. Oh! And for height reference...I'm pretty average. I'm 5'5, but I have very long legs -- so things are always short on me. I suspect this length would be a bit longer on other girls close to my height who are more evenly proportioned, haha. : )
