just coffee

longtime brewers o' espresso, we had, on the side, a french press. a thing once regularly used that slowly moved to the back of the coffee cabinet. but robbie is ever the chemist. he wanted to perfect a new method. and i liked the idea of a keeping a communal pot at hand. something to share. to commune over. to consume slowly.

we have had a few unusually sick weeks here and been staying in sweaters & sweatpants, tinkering about the kitchen. we'd long considered a chemex, but continually put it off. it's immediately become our preferred brew -- smooth, and good straight black or with a swirl of almond milk stirred in.

oh, and that first photo? my new favorite.
